The Enemy of my Enemy is...my Enemy...

Everyone in the entire world knows that the U.S. and Israel have plans to attack Iran. The U.S. has moved carrier groups to the Persian Gulf. The U.S. raided an Iranian diplomatic outpost in Northern Iraq and confiscated computers, files, and other paper work in addition to detaining a few Iranians.

Now that we are through with Saddam, we are pushing even harder every day to make Iran, specifically the *batfucking crazy* Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Public Enemy Number One. (by the by, Bush is *batfucking crazy* too)

We have demonstrated in Afghanistan that we really have no interest in catching Bin Laden or reining in Al Qaeda. We've stopped worrying about North Korea and *batfucking crazy* Kim Jong-il. We are selling nukes to India who will likely sell nukes to Pakistan (illegally) but we don't care so long as Mushariff is sort of in charge of Pakistan (the day he loses power is the day Al Qaeda gets Nukes).

Outside of all this though what really gets me is how soon people forget what America's foreign policy has been in the past. For example. Reagan made a deal with Iran to release the hostages AFTER the 1980 election was over.

And then later during the Reagan Adminstration, weapons were sold to Iran to help fund covert operations in Nicaragua better known as Iran-Contra.

All the while we were selling WMD and conventional weapons to Saddam who was engaged in a war with Iran.

Simultaneously, the CIA was funding Osama Bin Laden and training Mujahadeen fighters on how to battle against the Soviet Union in Afghanistan.

Arms dealers don't care what side you're on so long as you buy their weapons. In order for arms dealers to make money, there has to be some sort of conflict going on in the world.

But why people don't get outraged when Americans get busted selling weapons to insurgents or when 200,000 AK-47's just go missing in Iraq is beyond me.

Or how about the latest:

Iran buys Army weapons and gear from Pentagon Auctions

AP: Iran Gets Army Gear in Pentagon Sale

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The U.S. military has sold forbidden equipment at least a half-dozen times to middlemen for countries - including Iran and China - who exploited security flaws in the Defense Department's surplus auctions. The sales include fighter jet parts and missile components.

In one case, federal investigators said, the contraband made it to Iran, a country President Bush branded part of an "axis of evil."

In that instance, a Pakistani arms broker convicted of exporting U.S. missile parts to Iran resumed business after his release from prison. He purchased Chinook helicopter engine parts for Iran from a U.S. company that had bought them in a Pentagon surplus sale. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, speaking on condition of anonymity, say those parts made it to Iran.

The surplus sales can operate like a supermarket for arms dealers.

Behind every war, every armed conflict are weapons dealers and war profiteers. They have no allegiance to any country. They have no concern for who wins or loses a battle. All they care about is who has got cash.

When one peels back the layers of Iran one will find that the move to strike Iran has less to do with their nuclear program and more to do with who is building Iran's nuclear facilities: Russia and France, not Halliburton. There in lies a huge problem.

Another problem is Iran's desire to start trading oil in Euros instead of dollars. The last country to contemplate doing that was Iraq.

A quick note for *back fucking crazy* ruthless dictators: You can have all the nukes you want, oppress your people, and even wage war on weaker countries so long as you use American weapons, American technologies, and contract with American companies to build your facilities. The ONLY time you have to worry is when you start contracting with a rival country like Russia, France, Germany, or China for competing weapons technologies. That will immediately get Bush's attention.

And the whole switching from dollars to Euros to trade oil? Here's a hint: Don't fucking tell anybody and just do it one day. If you tell someone you're going to do it, you're going to get bombed.

Class for Ruthless Dictators is now over.

It is all about profit. The purpose of war for people like Bush and Cheney is profit. Casualties are meaningless. Victory, or defeat, is not as important as keeping the war going.

I got hung up on one thing you said Poli--
India would sell nukes to PAKISTAN???
aren't they in a perpetual state of almost-at-war with each other?

maybe I'm a naif, but I would theink they wouldn't be that crazy. even in this crazy world.

[ok, going back to finish the article, now.]

Hi Two Crows

The deal we made with India was to sell them nuclear components presumably for the generation of electricity and other "peaceful" purposes. We're supposed to be able to inspect India's nuclear facilities except India said "No Way!" to several military nuclear installations.

Yes India and Pakistan are enemies but that won't stop the flow of technologies, weapons, and intelligence.

the USSR and USA were enemies for a long time and still the USSR managed to get USA technology and vice-vera either by espionage, combing through wreckage, or buying it on the black market.

Hell, Iran is our enemy and they bought freakin weapons and gear that came from a Pentagon auction!

We armed Saddam and Iran during the Iran-Iraq War.

We trained Bin Laden and armed him to fight the USSR in Afghanistan.

I guess all I'm saying is that yes, on the surface India is in no way going to officially give/sell Pakistan nuke technology.

But how many Pakistani spys are within India? How many blackmarket arms dealers have connections?

I just think it's inevitible especially given how lacadaisical our gummint is.

I mean, our guys are dying in Iraq and !OOP! 200,000 AK-47's went missing!

It always comes back to money.
