Hill Dog On The ‘Lo

Hill_Dog.jpg

I don’t remember exactly when I noticed it happening…I want to say right after the 2004 election, maybe in 2005. In any case, long before Hill Dog Clinton announced her candidacy for President of the United States I specifically remember Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh hoping, wishing, and praying that Hillary Clinton would run for President.

The droll would literally be running off the chin of Hannity with spittle flying out of his mouth “oh I hope she runs for President…I tell you my friends it will be a great day for Republicans if she announces her candidacy” he would say or something similar. I don’t exactly remember.

Now part of Limbaugh and Hannity’s excitement over a Hill Dog candidacy is likely the prospect of them being able to relive the Starr Report. They would get to discuss on air the cigar, the stained dress, and Monica’s Presidential Knee Pads.

I assume there must be a certain sense of power that overcomes irresponsible individuals knowing they are able to ruin someone’s career by using the public airwaves. I don’t know if in Limbaugh’s case if it’s an aphrodisiac that is as effective as Viagra, but nevertheless there has to be something that drives the right wing to destroy individuals that’s about more than just winning.

But I digress…The point is that the right wing tools have been noticeably quiet about Hill Dog. We’re not hearing the typical infantile chatter about “stand by her man”, “lyin’ cheatin’ Bill, Monica, sexual “deviancy”, or the “dishonor” Bill brought to the White House. I can understand why they aren’t talking about honor…after all, we have the most dishonorable man as President.

I firmly believe there is a concerted effort by the right wing to remain quiet about Hill Dog. Why? They don’t want to ruin her chances of winning the primary.

But if she wins the primary, then I predict that the wingnut flood gates will open and that Republican Noise Machine will kick in.

Can Hill Dog withstand such a full frontal attack coming from the entire Right Wing machine? Can Hill Dog survive the re-telling of Monica-Gate and Bill’s Impeachment?

My opinion is absolutely not. Rethugs will appeal to their religious base and those that still cling to “family values” even though there is no such thing in the Republican Party.

Just something for you to think about when the Primaries come around. Casting your vote for Hill Dog could very well be casting your vote for the next Republican President of the United States.

hey, Poli--
I know you don't like her but I must disagree with your take on Hillary's chances.
OF COURSE the right wing will attack her. that goes without
saying. as they attacked Bill. as they attacked Gore. as they attacked Kerry. as they've already attacked Obama.
they will attack anyone who runs against whoever is running on
the rep side. as they will attack anything left of Hitler. that's their thing.

with the mood the country is in, tho, I think any dem will win in a landslide. the only people who still favor Bush are knee-jerk
reps [or, simply jerks] who will vote for a rep simply because
s/he isn't a dem -- and damn the consequences to our country.
my guess is--that amounts to about 20% of the population. the
other 80% will, by my estimation, vote dem the next time around--no matter who runs.

just my take.
:)

Hi Two Crows

I understand...they will attack anyone and everyone even their own grandma if they think it will help.

Except with Hillary they have much more heavy ammo to hit her with.

They ruined Kerry and McCain. It's my opinion they'll bury Hillary.

I could be wrong and the primaries are still a very long way away.

I just think the odds would be better for a Dem to take the White House other than Hillary.

My problem with Hillary pretty much is her stance on the war. She's in no hurry to end it. And in my mind that disqualifies her.

Granted there is plenty of time for her to change her mind...but I would be leery if she did a last minute flip flop on the war.

I agree with you about Hillary. I've been afraid of her candidacy for a long time. I think if she gets the nomination the Dems might still take the White House, but I think it will be a much harder fight than if we get someone else.

Right now, I'm backing Obama but I really do wish Al would run.

I think you will find that regardless of how she does if she gets the nomination for democratic candidate, her presence on the ticket will drive republican voters out to vote that may have otherwise stayed home. Having Hilary as a presidential candidate will cost a lot of democrats their seats as more people vote republican that might have otherwise stayed home. Hilary will provoke the conservative base to come out and vote against her. This effect will be more significant than the opposite result that happened in 2004.
