Lying Liars

No wonder more than half the American People believe Saddam attacked America on 9/11 when the media continues to lie and catapult propaganda for the Bush Administration.

This morning on MSNBC's Morning Joe with Joe Scarborough he had on Bush's former Chief of Staff Andrew Card.

Joe asked him some questions and let Andy Card just spew talking point after talking point completely unchecked.

Card said that "everyone thought that Saddam had WMD" in response to Joe's question about whether or not it was mistake to invade and focus all our efforts on Iraq.

That's the kind of crap that just pisses me off to no end. "Every thought Saddam had WMD" Mr. Card? Uh, no. You are a filthy dirty stinking liar.

Scott Ritter former U.N. weapons inspector was telling EVERYONE that Saddam had no significant WMD in 2002 in the book War On Iraq: What Team Bush Doesn't Want You To Know.

Here is an excerpt:

There’s no doubt Iraq hasn’t fully complied with its disarmament obligations as set forth by the Security Council in its resolution. But on the other hand, since 1998 Iraq has been fundamentally disarmed: 90-95% of Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction capacity has been verifiably eliminated… We have to remember that this missing 5-10% doesn’t necessarily constitute a threat… It constitutes bits and pieces of a weapons program which in its totality doesn’t amount to much, but which is still prohibited… We can’t give Iraq a clean bill of health, therefore we can’t close the book on their weapons of mass destruction. But simultaneously, we can’t reasonably talk about Iraqi non-compliance as representing a de-facto retention of a prohibited capacity worthy of war. (page 28)

We eliminated the nuclear program, and for Iraq to have reconstituted it would require undertaking activities that would have been eminently detectable by intelligence services. (page 32)

If Iraq were producing [chemical] weapons today, we’d have proof, pure and simple. (page 37)

[A]s of December 1998 we had no evidence Iraq had retained biological weapons, nor that they were working on any. In fact, we had a lot of evidence to suggest Iraq was in compliance. (page 46)

So this is where the parsing of statements and what the definition of "is" is comes into play. I'm sure if someone tried to nail Andrew Card down on his claim that "Everyone thought Saddam had WMD" citing Scott Ritter as a contradiction to that claim, Card would just turn tables and say "but Scott admitted Saddam still could have some WMD".

That's where the argument deconvolves. The argument isn't whether Saddam had WMD or not. Republicans on Capital Hill like Rick Santorum have already tried to hold up mortar shells containing chemicals from the late 80's sold to Saddam by Donald Rumsfeld as "proof" Saddam had WMD. The argument is did Saddam have significant quantities of WMD, particularly nukes, and was Saddam posing an imminent threat to the U.S.?

The answer ofcourse is NO. And while Andrew Card keeps hacking for Bush claiming hind site is 20/20 and no one could have predicted the outcome of invading Iraq, everyone thought Saddam had WMD etc etc, history and THE FACTS prove otherwise.

These bastards in the Bush Administration KNEW Saddam had no role in 9/11. They KNEW Saddam did not posses any significant quantities of WMD. They KNEW Saddam was not an imminent threat to the U.S.

They also KNEW what the outcome of invading and occupying Iraq would be. Cheney '94 knew invading Iraq would create a quagmire and warring factions. General Shinseki knew it would take over 400,000 troops to stabilize Iraq.

It's absolutely shameful and disgraceful that these bastards are allowed to make the media rounds and continue catapulting the propaganda for Bush keeping the lies alive and the American People duped.

It’s too bad our media doesn’t do its job and report facts. It’s too bad that political hacks like Andrew Card are given a forum to spew their talking points on National TV with no one to fact check them.

Scarborough claims he no longer supports the war, but he constantly criticizes those who are against it.

His letting Card vent his lies are another normal day on Scarborough's worthless show.

Hi Naj, I was gone all day today but was able to fix your link to it works...(you forgot the quotes)...Anyway, thanks..that's some scarey stuff indeed!

Hi Larry, agreed. Scarborough tries to walk a line and act like he's balanced but he always comes down on the Republican side in the end. He talks a good game but always ends with "we can't leave Iraq" one way or another.
