Thank Roger Clemens
Perhaps it was getting a little too hypocritical for Congress to sit back and do nothing about Bush's cronies and their law breaking while they crowed about Roger Clemens possibly breaking the law. Why is it that a baseball player must be held to the highest standard of the law but the President and his cohorts get a pass?
For years we have been told how hard it is to have hearings in Congress and how pointless it all would be because it would take too long. Then, in a matter of a couple months Clemens is dragged before Congress and raked over the coals. Now the FBI is investigating Clemens. Law makers seem almost giddy to go after him for possibly committing perjury.
Yet they fail to lift a finger to do anything about the crimes being committed by the Bush Administration. I guess the shame and hypocrisy of it all finally pushed Pelosi to fucking do something...
Pelosi wants Bush aides investigated
By LARA JAKES JORDAN, Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi asked the Justice Department on Thursday to open a grand jury investigation into whether President Bush's chief of staff and former counsel should be prosecuted for contempt of Congress.
Pelosi, D-Calif., demanded that the department pursue misdemeanor charges against former White House counsel Harriet Miers for refusing to testify to Congress about the firings of federal prosecutors in 2006 and against chief of staff Josh Bolten for failing to turn over White House documents related to the dismissals.
She gave Attorney General Michael Mukasey one week to respond and said refusal to take the matter to a grand jury will result in the House's filing a civil lawsuit against the Bush administration.
The White House branded the request as "truly contemptible." The Justice Department had no immediate comment. The top House Republican called it "a partisan political stunt" and "a complete waste of time," according to a spokesman.

Mukasey refuses probe of Bush aides
By LAURIE KELLMAN, Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON - Attorney General Michael Mukasey refused Friday to refer the House's contempt citations against two of President Bush's top aides to a federal grand jury. Mukasey said White House Chief of Staff Josh Bolten and former presidential counsel Harriet Miers committed no crime.
As promised, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that she has given the Judiciary Committee authority to file a lawsuit against Bolten and Miers in federal court.
"The House shall do so promptly," she said in a statement.
'committed no crime' ... LOL

Next up: Congress investigates Linday Lohan in connection with a SoCal crab outbreak.
Congress is simply doing what the Chimpromised MSM is doing, and ignoring the poo the moronic monkey flings on a continuous basis.

imnsho, they figure this thing'll get lots of publicity as the election draws nearer-- and the voters will forget they did nothing for over a year.
maybe that was their intent from the get-go? to use subpoenas to garner votes?
ummmmm -- is my cynicism showing?
it's well earned, seeing as how I've been emailing my representative and senators for a year now.

I agree with Jim that "Congress has done nothing to hold Bush and his dirty cronies for their lying.
Instead they are powerless so they waste their time on the sports world. Meanwhile the country is going to hell in a hand basket."
Why do we stand by and watch this Congress waste time on sport and what they are doing, when this government is doing worse and Pelosi has finally got the nerve to say enough is enough.
Great post PoliShifter and hypocritical is putting it light. It's about time someone address this issue and it's about time someone posted on this as well.

Thou of small faith, do not furrow thine brows, for verily the civil suit will bring these heinous crimes to light and divine justice shall be served! Amen.
