The Omen - Hillary's Filly Eight Belles
Hillary Clinton a couple days ago told everyone to 'Bet on the Filly' (MSNBC) in the Kentucky Derby. The Filly, Eight Belles, was the only female horse in the race.
The implication of course was to draw parallels between the Presidential race and the Kentucky Derby with the Female and Filly in each case winning the race thereby beating the odds.
Well, today Hillary's Filly Eight Belles placed second and was euthanized (CBS):
INDIANAPOLIS -- Hillary Clinton’s pick to win the Kentucky Derby this year came in second, but was later euthanized on the track. The tragic moment at Churchill Downs cast an eerie spell over the campaign and the candidate who recently compared herself and her candidacy to the only female horse running in the race, Eight Belles.
At a campaign in event recently in Jeffersonville, just north of Louisville, Kentucky, Clinton encouraged her supporters to put their money on the 20-1 long shot. “I hope that everybody will go to the derby on Saturday and place just a little money on the filly for me,” she said. “I won’t be able to be there this year, my daughter is going to be there and so she has strict instructions to bet on Eight Belles.”
Earlier that day Clinton visited her Kentucky headquarters where a sign on the wall said “Bet on the filly.” A filly is a young female horse, and no doubt Clinton saw a comparison to the horses’ race and her own political race.
On the track today, Eight Belles beat the odds and eventually fought her way to place second, but was sadly put down after sustaining life threatening injuries to both of her front legs.

It may seem tragic and sad to bring it up but it has to be done. These races take a toll on the contenders and no one likes to see a Filly put down or any horse or Presidential Candidate for that matter.
But if Eight Belles had won, we would never hear the end of it. The comparisons between Hillary Clinton and the odds defying Filly would fill the airwaves for weeks. The Clinton campaign would pass it off as all the 'proof' the super delegates need to propel Hillary to the nomination. The Clinton Campaign would have quickly worked this into Hillary's stump speeches and created an entire folklore surrounding Eight Belles.
Alas it was not meant to be. The Filly came in second, much like Senator Clinton. As expected, only silence from the Hillary camp. Will anyone consider the pressure put on the trainer, jockey, and owner to push Eight Belles well beyond her limits just for Hillary ultimately leading to the untimely death of the Filly?
Tragedy struck the first filly in the Kentucky Derby since 1999, as Eight Belles went down on the track after her second-place finish today, broke two ankles, and was euthanized.
Showing a sisterhood with the female horse, Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., during a trip to Louisville this week had said she was going to bet on Eight Belles to win, place, and show.

The horse Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., picked to show -- Big Brown -- won the Derby.

There you go.
And they said "The Twilight Zone" was fake.
Sad about Eight Belles.
Makes me wonder, if she had won, how many voters would have taken it as a sign from God and voted for Hillary. Probably not as many as God told to vote for Bush...twice.

Hi NCL,
that's exactly my point....IF Eight Belles had won we wouldn't be hearing the end of it right now about 'how the Filly beat the odds..Can Hillary do the same'?
But the Filly placed second and died on the track. Does the situation hold true in reverse?
Please NCL don't go to church or you might find yourself voting for McCain and having a strange desire to bomb Iran.

"You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows" - if Hillary had any horse sense left she would step aside.
