The topic on Thom Hartmann yesterday was on Fox’s apparent coverage of Monday’s Democratic Convention. I guess Fox News got the bid to cover the convention this year. Not sure what that means as the convention was also on CSPAN, MSNBC, and CNN. Perhaps it means Fox is controlling the cameras but honestly I don’t know and don’t care.

From everything I heard Michelle Obama’s speech was one for the record books. Many of my family and friends that saw the speech on TV were moved to tears. People that were at the convention were truly touched by Michelle. Olbermann and Mathews were gushing with enthusiasm.

But apparently if you watched Fox News cover Michelle’s speech you might have walked away with a different take. Fox News every time Michelle had a crowd arousing point would cut to a bored white person in the convention. Next they would cut to an exuberant “minority” preferably jumping up and down or in tears over the excitement. They would follow that with a shot of an angry white person or disinterested white person.

Let me say up front I did not watch Fox News cover Michelle’s speech. I am just going off of what Thom Hartmann and his callers said.

But from how the discussion went if you watched Fox News cover Michelle Obama you might walk away with a feeling that “minorities” are very excited by the Obama’s and “whites” are bored or even terrified of the Obama’s. You also might think her speech wasn’t very good especially if you are one to believe Bill Kristol who immediately after panned her and her speech. You also might be walking around wondering what the big deal was. You saw the speech and didn’t get that excited and didn’t see anyone in the convention excited except black people.
