Intelligence, The CIA, and Leon Panetta
Democrats have decided they don’t like Obama’s pick of Leon Panetta to be the new CIA Chief.
Note to Democrats in Congress:
If you were there while the torture, rendition, and warrantless wire tapping by the Bush Administration took place you have no say on any matters related to Intelligence. If you aided and abetted the Bush Administration’s use of flawed intelligence to push the United States into two wars, you have no say on matters of Intelligence.
If you refused to impeach Bush and Cheney for their violations of the Constitution, outing a CIA Agent, and misuse of Intelligence you get no say in who can be CIA Chief.
If you sat back idly while the Bush Administration abused and cooked Intelligence reports for their own propaganda purposes you have no right to criticize Obama’s pick to head the CIA.
If you were involved in any way with the “faulty” intelligence that lead to the occupation of Iraq (I’m talking to you Feinstein and Rockefeller) you had just better shut the fuck up.
The reason some Democrats are complaining about Panetta is because they want someone like them who has blood on their hands. They want someone they have dirt on with regard to all the Intelligence failures for the past 8 years.
They don’t want someone who has not been involved in the Intelligence gathering and presentation because that sort of person would be dangerous to them. This type of person could expose the flaws, find the truth, and put an end to the disastrous way Intelligence has been used in this country for the past 8 years.
We have entered an era where Intelligence is gathered and fixed to support a particular agenda. It’s no longer about trying to obtain an objective truth. Even if Bush leaves office without significant changes to our Intelligences agencies and policies this practice may not stop. Certainly the Democrats who sat on these Intelligence committees had no interest in stopping it for the past 8 years.
Thus I think Obama’s pick is a smart one. Obama picked someone who is not tainted by the Intelligence failures of the past and who does not have blood on their hands for Iraq. Obama’s pick will not be intimidated by certain Democrats who would like to threaten the incoming CIA Chief with “If we go down, we’re taking you with us”. That won’t work on Panetta since he wasn’t in those Democratic Intelligence meetings signing off on the Intelligence Bush and Cheney wanted.
Many Democrats are just as guilty as Bush Cheney. That’s why they have protected Bush Cheney from impeachment, indictment, and investigations in order to protect themselves. That’s how BushCo operates. They made sure everyone had blood on their hands before going into Iraq. That’s how they got Pelosi to take impeachment off the table.
It’s also how they got Harman, Feinstein, Rockefeller and other Democrats sitting on various intelligence committees to not make a big deal out of things such as torture and warrantless wire tapping. Democrats signed off on many of the Constitutional violating law breaking activities of the Bush Administration.
Leon Panetta scares the shit out of them. They don’t know how to get to him…yet.

If Feinstein and Harman are against it...that's all you had to say.

I want to say to Feinstein and Rockefeller and anyone else involved -- the same thing I was saying to the Rethugs over 2 years ago when they were changing the rules in Congress in order to keep the minority party from having a say in the system.
WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND!
you needed to think about the consequences of your actions back when you were committing em. now, it's too late.

I seem to remember reports that Pelosi was present at an 'interrogation' years ago. That would tend to send her a very visceral message of personal threat while 'implicating' her as consenting to the practice.
Personally, I have never thought Bu$hCo shy about intimidating opposition :

BTW Waterboarding does not 'simulate' drowning. It is drowning. Nor is it used to 'extract confessions'. It is used to compel them, reality being lost in the process.
