It appears that Republicans coupled with the Corporate Power and wealthy elite in this country have a solution to our economic crisis – more tax cuts and deregulation.

I just wonder if the American People will buy another round of Voodoo Economics and Reaganomics from these crooks and thieves. We’ve been under the spell of Voodoo Economics since Reagan. Since then we’ve continually cut taxes for the wealthy and deregulated industry. The result has been that we have lost most of our manufacturing base and seen most of our jobs go overseas. We’ve also watched as our standard of living has steadily decreased.

The wealthy elite coupled with Republicans are trying to tell us that all we need are more tax cuts with more deregulation to get the jobs flowing again. Only, this is exactly what we did from 2001 to 2009 and we had ZERO net job creation.

The corporations and wealthy elite have been getting what they want for 30 years now. They got their NAFTA, CAFTA, and GAAT. They got tax breaks for outsourcing jobs to India and China. Unions have decreased in number. Wages have remained stagnant at best and decreased in many cases. Ok, under Clinton the wealthy elite had their taxes go up a little (not even back to pre-Reagan levels) but Bush Jr. made sure those taxes were cut even more.

These policies Republicans push that center around making the finances better for the wealthy elite do not work. The wealth doesn’t trickle down. The wealthy elite do not create jobs out of the goodness of their heart nor do they reinvest in America just because it’s the right thing to do. We have 30 years of data to back that up.

So to hear these corporate titans talk about how they need some more tax cuts and deregulation so they can hire more is just a bunch of bullshit. They got what they wanted for a decade and they destroyed our economy in the process.

The reality is the corporate titans and Republicans are cheap labor conservatives. They want wages to go down. They want worker insecurity. They want Americans working for less. It’s the reason why corporations are not hiring. It’s the reason why businesses won’t hire people who have been unemployed.

Corporate earnings are coming out this week and I bet they are going to be great. Why? Because the corporations have been able to reduce costs by getting rid of more expensive employees and rather than hiring having their existing employees do the work of two people.

The current meme is “be thankful you have a job”. This is exactly where the corporations and Republicans want us. They want us working for less than minimum wage. They want no regulations in the work place. They want no regulations with regard to what corporations do to the environment. They purposely want to bring down the American Worker several pegs until we’re on par as far as labor costs go with China.

Will Americans buy it again? Will they again fall for the voodoo conservative economic policies that have been destroying our country for 30 years? Will we once again be suckers for the corporate elite? It sure feels that way at the moment.
